This weekend was Colsen and Tyler's 1st soccer games! They both were excited although by the look on Colsen's face in some of these pics he looks more nervous then excited. Once it was game time he seemed to settle down a little bit. He did make Tyler sit over by the bench with him and when it was his turn to go in and play he wanted Tyler on the field with him but since Tyler couldn't do that he stood down by the goal so Colsen could see him. Although this was a little frustrating for Tyler he did his big brother duty and stayed with Colsen.
Colsen's team only plays 4 on 4. It is kind of up to everyone to protect the goal. It was really weird for me watching him because I don't remember Tyler and Holden playing this way when they were his age. Colsen did AWESOME!! He got the 2nd goal of the game which ended up being the 1st goal for his team. Once he scored and all the parents were cheering he kind of looked around and the look on his face is like why are these people all cheering for me. It was cute. He played hard every time he was in the game. He sat and cheered his team on when he wasn't in. I was very proud of him. Even though his jersey color can either be orange or white his team is called the "Blue Sharks". At this age it isn't about who wins and all that but his team did win 9-5! His coach is awesome. He really gets the kids going and is very patient. Tyler usually helps out in their practices as well. Watching him yesterday I can see him being an assistant coach or something during his free time while he is in school. I was proud of him for finding the patience and making his little brother feel comfortable.
The team that Tyler is on is a lot different then what he is use to. We weren't sure what his level of soccer would be at once we moved back to the states. The coach that he has of course has a lot different coaching style then Coach Eric did in Germany. Tyler is much farther advanced then most of the kids on his team. Enough that his coach asked Vic if Tyler had played on a travel team before. Tyler has the moves that some of these kids wish that they did. When the game started he was playing Center Mid Fielder. Which is a position he normally doesn't play. He is usually one of the forwards. Lets just say in the first half it was more a defensive game for Tyler's team then offensive. By half time they were down 4-0. It wasn't looking pretty at all. In the 2nd half Tyler was finally put in the position he knows how to play so well and dominates at (well when he chooses to). He pretty much dominated in the 2nd half. He scored 4 goals in a row. He could of easily of had 6 but his "big boot" kicked the ball to hard and missed the goal. His team kept the other team from scoring in the 2nd half. Tyler told me that whenever he got the ball everyone on the other team was yelling for someone to try and get the ball from him. His team ended up with a tie! His game was at 2:30 it was almost 90 degrees out. He did really well and I was so proud of him. I know that Coach Eric would of been too. (Like always its the 2nd half and he is ready to play...some things don't change Eric...Ha ha)!
He is getting ready to hit the ball with his head
Another big boot that he scored on
We sweat our butts off at the games yesterday. I swear after each game I thought I sweat enough to lose 2 dress sizes. My skirt felt bigger after each game. Ha ha! Anyways, we came home got showers and headed out for a victory dinner. It was a great day for the Claudio family in the world of sports. Holden had a soccer tournament in Alabama and his team won both of their games. Vic said Holden did great and played hard. Next weekend we will all travel to Panama City (providing that Hurricane Ike doesn't say differently). Next weekend photos will be all about Holden's soccer team and our stay in Panama City. Anyways...getting back to what I was saying...Colsen's team won and Tyler's team ended up with a tie and the Buckeyes FINALLY decided to show up and play to win. The 3 of us went to Golden Corral (Ty & Colsen's choice) and ate a ton of food. Then Colsen wanted to stop and get a Sno Cone at the little hut that sits not too far from the beach. We got our Sno Cones...Colsen got Sponge bob Square Pants, Ty got Red Raspberry and I got Hannah Montana (not a good flavor to get..ha ha). We decided to go and eat them on the beach and watch the sun set. It was a good day spending the day with the 2 of them. We don't always get to do it so it is times like these that you treasure!
He wanted to take a pic of his sno cone
